"Dear Newbies"

 

This may have been my favorite blog post published on the Sweetland Minor In Writing blog.  It was addressed to students new to the minor and it offered advice for Writing 220 and for their writing in general.  I told them that the Minor will force creativity out of them but to look at it as an invitation to explore themselves and their passions.  I tried to make them believe that they are writers and that they are creative.  I needed someone to say that to me because it was hard for me to believe.  Looking back on it now, I can see how inspired I was in my writing journey at the end of Writing 220 last year.  I got some nice comments on the post also and it’s good to know that my advice is helping students in the Minor who are coming after me.
