Project II:

Healthy in Mind Before Healthy in Body: A Plea to Buzzfeed

The original paper: We were asked to take a piece of writing (that is particularily meaningful to us) and repurpose it for a different audience.  I chose to start with an article I wrote in the style of Consider Magazine, a campus organization that presents 2 sides of a debate, each side written by a different author.  I wrote one side of the organic versus local debate.  Click on the document to read the article.

Very little of this original article made it into my final piece.  It served mostly as inspiration.  I have a broad interest in food and health and I chose to go another route with my repurposing project.

After much brainstorming and a drastic narrowing of my focus, I came up with a general scheme of ideas for the repurposing.  My project proposal is to the left.

This document is a reflective analysis, written on the road to project II.  It gives a note on workshopping our papers and details the parts I was having trouble with.  One of my greatest challenges was zooming in on the essence of what I hoped the piece would be.  I started out trying to tackle everything and worked it into something reasonably focused.

The final annotated bibliography.  It includes both the sources I cited in the article and those I simply glanced through and maybe something stuck with me.

Draft

Final

This project was interesting for me because it morphed so much from the original piece to project II and even more so to project III.  It took a awhile for me to discover what I truly wanted to say about this topic and how I wanted to say it.  I like where the road took me.

I referenced 2 Buzzfeed articles in my final article.  The links to these articles are in the buttons to the left and right.
